Production
The pendular mould
The FORMAT production moulds can be used in a modular way, are exchangeable and complement each other. The „pendular moulds“, which can be used alternately, form the basis. The pendular mould was developed in order to enable the production of round-framed hulls with minimal effort. The horizontally positioned (??) mould allows straightforward and ergonomic work procedures and thus ensures a high quality standard.
The assembly
The advantage of this technically mature construction system is that it saves time. Within a few days the hulls and the bulkheads are arranged in their final position without any further turning, aligning and adjusting. This is ideal for custom building and cost-effective for shipyards.
The laminates are made from combined uni-directional, bi- or tri-axial tissues depending on the amount and the direction of the load. A range of high-quality polyester, vinylester and epoxy resins can be used for laminating. The underwater profiles of the hulls of new polyester catamarans are generally treated with an epoxy-based sealing system. Only closed-cell PVC foams are used as core material because they are highly resilient and do not absorb any water. Underneath the fittings the PVC core is replaced by a pressure-resistant material.
