FORMAT 400 CABRIO

The FORMAT 400 Cabrio is our latest design. It is based on the semi-open models of the system building series that has been proved and tested for many years. By combining saloon and cockpit, the design creates an exceptional atmosphere. The elegant, yet sporty silhouette is dominated by stretched and flowing lines.

The term „cabrio“ is an abbreviation of the French word „cabriolet“ (from French „cabrioler“ = to jump for joy). Long before the era of the motor vehicle, the term „cabriolet“ (convertible) was used for a light, open two-wheeled carriage with a folding hood. It also aptly describes this open-topped catamaran and stands for light and joyful sailing.

The FORMAT 400 C has all the attributes of a classy open bridgedeck catamaran while at the same time protecting its crew. Slender hulls, above average width and ample sail area combined with a light and strong sandwich construction promise exciting sailing and excellent sea keeping qualities. With its clear layout the FORMAT 400 C has an ideal size for comfortable and safe trips around the world and is easy to handle for relaxed sailing along the coast. A number of innovative technical solutions promises first-rate sailing pleasures.

These lines written by Erdmann Braschos about the fascinating, ultramodern Italian Daycruiser by Luca Brenta unintentionally and perfectly describes the spirit of the FORMAT 400 Cabrio.

Four basic accommodation versions meet the requirements of various levels of comfort and convenience. It goes without saying that this series, as the others, offers great scope for individual changes and desires.

FORMAT 400 CABRIO | Private Version

The Private Version offers maximum individual comfort for the owner and his guests. Each hull contains a double cabin with bathroom and separate shower/ marine wc. The double berths can easily be folded into sofas by hand, which results in comfortable day cabins. In the areas in front of the companionways there is a large navigation area on the port side and a fully-fitted galley on the starboard side. The C-shaped sofa below the hardtop can be extended to a 2.0 x 1.80 m external bed in hot nights.

FORMAT 400 CABRIO | Owner Version

In the Owner Version the entire port hull belongs to the owner couple. With its luxurious double cabin, private bathroom and seperate shower/ marine wc it leaves nothing to be desired. The large navigation area, optimally located right beside the companionway and quickly to be reached from the cockpit, has ample space to accommodate all the desired instruments. The starboard hull contains an aft double cabin and an additional berth in the bridgedeck, which offers independent privacy to either 3 to 4 guests or a family and children. The fully-fitted galley is in a central position by the companionway and the bathroom with marine wc is situated in the bow.

FORMAT 400 CABRIO | World Cruiser

This version is virtually predestined for easy cruising in tropical conditions. The hardtop provides excellent protection against the sun and at the same time full all-round vision on one level. The owner's hull with double cabin, navigation, bathroom and separate marine wc offers enough space for long-distance sailing. Occasional guests may use an extra double cabin in the opposite hull. The bathroom in front of the galley has room for a watermaker and a washing machine. The pilot's cabin in the bow can be reached through a watertight lockable manhole.

FORMAT 400 CABRIO | Club Version

The Club Version is characterized by three double cabins and one central bathroom with a separate marine wc. The navigation area is beside the port companionway and the galley beside the starboard companionway. The C-shaped sofa below the hardtop can be converted into an additional berth. This makes the Club Version ideal for a crew of 6 to 7 for weekend and holiday trips.
